The Deathless Elixir of Immortality

An Exploration of the Realms Beyond Death & the Journey to Infinity

with Robert Thurman and Alberto Villoldo | August 21st - 22nd

Many have lost their souls seeking it, yet it has always been within reach…

Both the Himalayan yogis and the Andean shamans were great cartographers of the soul. They discovered sacred maps that were priceless at the moment of death, and just as valuable during the course of one’s life. The audacious explorer who embraced impermanence could follow these maps into uncharted territory to discover timeless wisdom, boundless power, and treasures buried by ancient masters in the folds of time.

Dr. Robert Thurman is the foremost scholar of Tibetan Buddhism in America and the translator of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, a practical guide to the afterlife. He will guide us through the various tests and experiences we face in the bardo planes, the ‘in-between states’ described by the Himalayan sages. Bob will share meditations to discover the compass that allows us to plot the journey through these realms.

Dr. Alberto Villoldo is a medical anthropologist and neuro-shaman. He will be teaching us the shaman’s art of ‘journeying,’ how the sages of old displaced their consciousness across space and through time. You will learn practices to break free of the grip of linear, ordinary time and to enter into deathless and timeless infinity.

This is a practical, hands-on, experiential program guided by two of today’s great masters.

Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D., is a psychologist and medical anthropologist who has studied the shamanic healing practices of the Amazon and Andes for over 30 years. At San Francisco State University, he directed the Biological Self-Regulation Laboratory to study how the mind creates psychosomatic health and disease. He is also the founder of the Four Winds Society, an organization dedicated to bridging ancient shamanic traditions with modern medicine and psychology.

Robert Thurman is Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University as well as Co-Founder and President of Tibet House US/Menla in service of HH Dalai Lama & the people of Tibet. A close friend of the Dalai Lama’s for over 50 years, he is a leading world-wide lecturer on Tibetan Buddhism, passionate activist for the plight of the Tibetan people, skilled translator of Buddhist texts, and inspiring writer of popular Buddhist books. His most recent book is the 300 page graphic novel, Man of Peace: the Illustrated Life Story of the Dalai Lama of Tibet.

In partnership with Nena Thurman and dedicated contributors, he now focuses on making Tibet House US and its Menla Retreat & Spa a global center for the promotion, study and practice of Tibetan Buddhist healing arts and sciences of body, mind, and spirit, dedicated as a complement to the vast life work of its patron, His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
